Ski Resort Areas and Community Info

There are many ski resort communities and ski area communities in and around Truckee and Lake Tahoe. Some of the major ski areas, such as Squaw Valley and Northstar California, are 4-season destination resorts complete with "villages" for shopping and dining.  And, they have many housing options for real estate purchases as well as rentals.

In addition to the ski resort communities are many ski area communities.  The difference is that the "ski area communities" have popular ski areas located within subdivisions/communities or the ski areas are surrounded by subdivisions/communities that offer many real estate options such as single family homes, condo/townhouse homes, and shared ownership homes. Examples of these ski areas are Alpine Meadows - a major ski area, Tahoe Donner - has both a Downhill Ski area and a Cross Country Ski area, Sugar Bowl and Boral -  major ski areas at Donner Summit, and Martis Valley - a luxury community with a homeowners lift to Northstar.
